The child is truly a miraculous being, and this should be felt deeply by the educator.

Foxglove Montessori is a progressive, non-religious, independent Montessori preschool program in the making. We are working on designing an accessible, high-quality, micro school in Kansas City's urban core area with a strong community focus. Our space will be a creative, collaborative, and nurturing environment where teachers, parents, and the community work together, providing rich opportunities for problem solving and social skills so that our students grow in to confident, resourceful community members. Through real-world parent education sessions and opportunities for parents to assist and observe the class, we seek to build a seamless learning environment for each child.

At capacity, our total number of students is 15 between the ages of 2.5 - 6.  This small group of eager learners will be supported by two teachers and rotating parent volunteers.

What We Are Doing

We are an experimental group of families collaborating to nurture the whole child within a loving community. We are currently creating a micro pre-k school in Kansas City's urban core area and hope to be ready for our inaugural class by Jan. 2017. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and caring educational environment for children, their families, and our community.

What We Believe

We believe children to be intrinsically good, intrinsically peaceful and intrinsically motivated to learn. As their caregivers, we look first to ourselves as the primary stewards of their learning environment. We are passionate about Montessori education and advocates of village-based child rearing. We are committed to remaining small, integrated in the community, and responsive to the needs of children.

Where We Are Going

We are on a journey to create a safe place for tiny people to explore their communities, and parents to trouble shoot everyday parenting challenges with educators and other parents. We are seeking a qualified Lead Teacher/Head of School and finding a space so we can welcome our inaugural class in 2017. Please let us know if you are aware of a Montessorian or potential space in the downtown/midtown area that is between ~1000 sq ft.

We are working to become a small, formal school bridging the gap between parents and educators, children and their community. We aim to hire an experienced Montessori educator by Jan. We are committed to keeping our enrollment low and tuition costs affordable for all. Your donation will help start this journey!
